Audacious Sound

You’d be forgiven for thinking I started this sentence with an entire understanding of what words were about to present themselves to the screen as I proceeded, but there we have it, and this is it. Such, arguably, is the foundational nature of much of the output of my sketchy audio work, and I dub the pride in this approach audacious.

And thus I introduce these notes on my soundscapes. After an initiation into radio presentation at Hospital Radio Norwich in the late ’90s, I popped over to study excitement at the University of Glamorgan in Treforest/Pontypridd, where they allowed me to run riot on the airwaves on student station Fusion 106, and later the community access station GTFM 106.9, where I ended up as a senior producer of the evening shows, responsible for overseeing the output, trailers, filling in on the mic, and keeping mayhem in check. There arose some majestic broadcasts featuring wonderful, wonderful people. And I had the pick of the bunch of brilliant minds, who joined me for creative outbursts in spare studios.

By a process of continued, occasional, and furtive activity, along with consideration, there came to be scheduled episodes of my inquisitive, semi-improvised comedy and music show, Fool’s Gold.

After I returned to live in Norwich in 2005, I compiled two CD albums of the best bits of my recordings in South Wales: The first was Being Audacious (2005).

The follow-up was Going Off At A Tangent (2009).

Further to all that, if you’re interested, I’ve also picked up a guitar and here offer some audacious performances.
